French people spend an average of 1h22 a day cooking. It is one of our favorite activities. It is therefore impossible to come to France without trying this experience which will make you feel French more than ever.

In 2010, the “gastronomic meal of the French” has been classified an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO. This category was created to protect traditional cultural practices and know-how.

In this program, you will learn the basics of French cuisine while practicing the French language in a relaxed atmosphere which facilitates oral communication!

We offer you an ideal program to improve your knowledge while exercising your passion and / or learn French!

Cooking lessons - 2 sessions per week

The cooking or baking workshops are done by a trusted partner. You will benefit from 2 sessions of 2 or 3 hours / week.

In International House Paris

Cooking classes are organized according to your French classes and can take place in the morning, afternoon, evening (until 22:30) or on weekends.
The schedule will be sent to you at the latest two weeks before the cooking lessons (attention: the schedules of the cooking workshops are likely to be modified by our partner).

The courses are taught by qualified chefs with a great experience and a special desire to pass on their passion for French cuisine. They are eager to share their expertise and give you their tips and tricks to make all your recipes successful.

Classes take place in Paris, in modern and designer kitchens, specially designed for training.

In International House Nice (Libération)

The cooking or baking workshops are done by a trusted partner. You benefit from 2 cooking sessions of 3 hours each, in the afternoon from 3pm to 6pm.

The chef – Aude Bertaux – welcomes you to her cooking workshop to prepare a complete menu that you can then enjoy.

Aude Bertaux graduated from the hotel school of Strasbourg and has worked for prestigious brands such as Dalloyau, Flo Prestige, or for a gourmet restaurant in South Africa. You will take home the recipes of the dishes you have cooked in order to prepare them again easily.

The course is suitable for all levels, whatever your cooking knowledge.

In International House Lyon

Classes take place in Lyon, in modern and designer kitchens, specially designed for training.

General French – 16 lessons per week

The weekly International House Paris / Nice (Libération) / Lyon courses are open from elementary A2 level to upper-intermediate B2 level. They consist of 16 lessons of 45 minutes spread over 4 days (Monday Tuesday, Thursday and Friday), in the morning.

The objective of the course program is to immerse yourself in a French-speaking environment where you will be autonomous to evolve on a daily basis.

At the end of an oral level test carried out on Monday morning before class, you will be placed in a group of homogeneous level.

When you leave, you will receive a certificate from International House Paris / Nice (Libération) / Lyon. It will mention the number of hours of courses you have followed and the level you have reached.

On top of the 16-general-French lessons, we offer you 4 online lessons : 2 lessons of a virtual guided tour and 2 lessons of an online thematic meeting.

our objectives

In order to constitute homogeneous classes, our International House schools have developed an online level test, to be done before your arrival.

In addition, an oral test takes place on the first day of classes in order to:

validate your oral level
check that your level has not changed since the written test
know your expectations and your needs

There are 12 students per class in order to promote exchanges and interactions during the course.

Our methodology is practical. The main concern for us is to make you autonomous during your stay in France. We want you to be able to understand simple messages and to answer them in a relevant way.

In order to better measure your progress and ensure that your learning is effective, we have implemented weekly assessments in all classes.

Your progress is measured regularly, and in case of dropping out, the teacher can refocus their course.

At the end of your stay, we give you a certificate of attendance and participation specifying the number of hours of courses followed and the level you have reached in French.
